INTRODUCTION
What is soy lecithin? Lecithin is a food additive that comes from several sources – one of them being soy. It’s generally used as an emulsifier, or lubricant, when added to food, but also has uses as an antioxidant and flavor protector.
Soy lecithin is composed of choline, fatty acids, glycerol, glycolipids, phospholipids, phosphoric acid and triglycerides.
The diverse forms in which lecithin is available – fluid, powder and granules – make it even more suitable to use as per industry specific demands. With additional processing, fluid lecithin can also be hydrolysed, fractionated, hydroxylated and acetylated for very specific industry applications.
Manufacture
Soy Lecithin is made from fresh gums, during de-gumming of Soybean Oil obtained from Soybean seeds.

Applications
It is used in human food, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, paints, and other industrial applications.
In food industry as an emulsifier, stabilizer, lubricate, release agent, antioxidant and dispersant.
In the pharmaceutical industry, it acts as a wetting agent, stabilizing agent and a choline enrichment carrier, helps in emulsification and encapsulation, and is a good dispersing agent. It can be used in manufacture of intravenous fat infusions and for therapeutic use.
In animal feed, it enriches fat and protein and improves pelletization.
In the paint industry, it forms protective coatings for surfaces with painting and printing ink, has antioxidant properties, helps as a rust inhibitor, is a color-intensifying agent, catalyst, conditioning aid modifier, and dispersing aid; it is a good stabilizing and suspending agent, emulsifier, and wetting agent, helps in maintaining uniform mixture of several pigments, helps in grinding of metal oxide pigments, is a spreading and mixing aid, prevents hard settling of pigments, eliminates foam in water-based paints, and helps in fast dispersion of latex-based paints.
Also, may be used as a release agent for plastics, an anti-sludge additive in motor lubricants, an anti-gumming agent in gasoline, and an emulsifier, spreading agent, and antioxidant in textile, rubber, and other industries.

Nikethamide is a synthetic organic compound derived from nicotinic acid (vitamin B₃). It consists of a pyridine ring linked to a diethyl amide functional group and belongs to the class of pyridine amide derivatives.
(2-Methoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is a stabilized phosphonium salt widely used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. Due to presence of an ester group, the compound generates a stabilized ylide that is particularly useful for synthesizing α, β-unsaturated esters, valuable intermediates in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, fragrances, and fine chemicals.
p-tert-Butylphenol (PTBP), is an aromatic organic compound consists of a phenol ring substituted with a tert-butyl group at the para (4-) position, giving it improved thermal stability and hydrophobic properties compared to phenol. PTBP features significant hydrogen bonding capabilities, which enhance its solubility in organic solvents. PTBP is used primarily as an intermediate in the manufacturing of polycarbonate plastics, phenolic resins, and epoxy resins.
Yttrium oxide (Y2O3), also known as yttria, is an air-stable, odorless white powder. It is a highly stable, chemically inert ceramic with a very high melting point. It is insoluble in water but readily dissolves in most strong acids. Increasing the specific surface area and porosity of Y2O3 can further improve its relevant physical and chemical properties.
Ethyl 7,7,7-trifluoro-3-hydroxy-3-methylheptanoate is a fluorinated aliphatic hydroxy ester. The presence of the trifluoromethyl group imparts enhanced metabolic stability, lipophilicity, and unique physicochemical properties compared with non-fluorinated analogues. This compound is primarily used as a synthetic intermediate in pharmaceutical and agrochemical research.
2-Chloro-1,1,1-trimethoxyethane is an organochlorine orthoester compound commonly used as a versatile synthetic intermediate in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with good reactivity toward nucleophilic substitution and cyclization reactions, making it valuable in the preparation of heterocyclic and bioactive molecules.
Glycolaldehyde dimer is the cyclic dimeric form of glycolaldehyde, the simplest hydroxyaldehyde. Glycolaldehyde is often supplied as stable dimeric solid, commonly identified as 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-dioxane.
N,N-Diisopropylethylamine (DIPEA), also known as Hünig’s Base, is a sterically hindered tertiary amine. It is a colorless liquid with a strong amine odor and is widely used as a low nucleophilic organic base in pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and fine chemical synthesis. Due to its bulky structure, DIPEA effectively scavenges acids without participating in unwanted side reactions.
Tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphite (TDPP) often recognized commercially as Irgafos 168 is a high-performance organophosphorus compound primarily utilized as secondary antioxidant and processing stabilizer. Its characteristic to undergo metallation reaction and provide a cost-effective synthetic processes allows it to be useful in biaryl coupling reactions.
