INTRODUCTION

Thiophosgene is an organic liquid with a   heterogeneous composition. The molecule is a reactive electrophile leading to its applications in APIs, intermediates, and agrochemicals, amongst others.

Manufacture
It is manufactured by two step process. In the first one, carbon disulphide reacts with chlorine to form an intermediate. In the second step, the intermediate is reduced to form thiophosgene.

SynonymsThiocarbonyl chloride
Carbon chlorosulphide
