INTRODUCTION

Succinonitrile is a colorless, low melting solid belonging to dinitrile category of organic compounds. The presence of two cyano groups renders the molecule reactive and thus it undergoes various reactions.

Manufacture
The dinitrile is manufactured by ammonolysis of succinic acid or by cyanoethylation of acrylonitrile by hydrogen cyanide.
