INTRODUCTION

Tridodecylamine is a tertiary fatty amine. Its structure depicts 3 long carbon chains. They are responsible for the hydrophobic nature of the molecule and its hierarchy of applications. It is naturally found in Bos taurus and has a role as rat / mouse metabolite.

Manufacture
The product is manufactured in a condensation process involving dodecanol and ammonia. Some processes use dodecyl bromide.

Tridodecylamine has various end uses:
As fragrance ingredient
For extraction of picolinic acid, citric acid, and succinic acid as well as silver, mercury, selenium, zinc, cobalt, and iron from their aqueous solutions
In synthesis of surfactant-based ionic liquids
In preparation of embedded telemetry systems for potentiometric censors
As antistatic agent in cosmetics
As an intermediate in surfactant production
As emulsifying and dispersing agent
As corrosion inhibitor and lubricant
As ionophore
As surface active agent, adsorbent, and absorbent in industrial processes
