Structure

Applications

Pyridine hydrobromide is used as an intermediate in the chemical industry for the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients like antibiotics, Cephalosporin & Cephalexin.
Also used in Mouthwash (Oral care), Skin Cream (Cosmetic).
It is quite useful for bromination of ketones.
It is used as an electrolyte in the electrochemical cells. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are important for the metabolism of xenobiotic compounds.
Pyridine hydrobromide has also been shown to have synergistic effects with other drugs, such as sodium carbonate and l-arabinose, in inhibiting the growth of bacteria in vitro and in vivo.
This compound is also able to form acid complexes with metal ions such as zinc and copper, which may be useful for therapeutic purposes where coordination geometry is important.
