INTRODUCTION

Ethylhexylglycerin is typically a clear, colorless liquid used in personal care products, as a preservative and a conditioning agent. It’s approved for use in cosmetics by regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EU).

MANUFACTURE

It is prepared by catalytic splitting of ethylhexylglycidyl ether, followed by the addition of water. The product can then be purified by vacuum distillation.
