INTRODUCTION

Chlorocresol, or 4-chloro-3-methylphenol, also known as p-chloro-m-cresol, is efficacious against various bacteria, yeast and fungi. It appears as a white crystalline solid. It is a potent disinfectant and antiseptic and acts as preservative in cosmetics, medicinal, and personal care products for both humans and animals.

APPLICATIONS

Chlorocresol is used to prevent infections.
It is used as an ingredient in some moisturizers and lotions.
Used as non-medicinal ingredient in medicated creams to treat skin irritations, such as eczema and fungi.
As preservative in products such as glues, gums, paints, inks, textiles and leather goods.
Also, used in various pharmaceutical products to increase shelf life.
